     QUALIFICATIONS:   

    1.     Must possess Colorado Principals License
    2.     Master's Degree required
    3.     Three years teaching experience plus prior administrative experience 
    4.     Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

    REPORTS TO:      Superintendent

    JOB GOAL:          To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills so as to promote the education development of each student

     PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school
    2. Initiates, designs and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school
    3. Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and problems
    4. Makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and instruction
    5. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration.
    6. Assists with the preparation and oversees the approved school building budget
    7. Keeps the Superintendent informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor’s accountability
    8. Maintains active relationships with students and parents
    9. Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business
    10. Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program
    11. Responsible for scheduling classes within established guidelines to meet student needs
    12. Assists in the development, revision and evaluation of the curriculum
    13. Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development
    14. Maintains high standards of student conduct and maintaining student discipline
    15. Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline
    16. Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school sponsored activities, functions and athletic events
    17. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publication and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
    18. Participates in the selection and supervision of all school building personnel
    19. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development. Oversees the mentor program of new staff
    20. Evaluates and counsels all staff member regarding their individual and group performance. Probationary staff will be evaluated two times per year and non-probationary one time per year.
    21. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school
    22. Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions
    23. Recommends, according to established procedures, the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory
    24. Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers
    25. Shares responsibility for the safety and administration of the school building
    26. Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes
    27. Plans and supervises fire drills and emergency preparedness program
    28. Asserts leadership in times of civil disobedience in school in accordance with established Board Policy
    29. Supervises all activities and programs that are out-growths of the school’s curriculum
    30. Supervises and evaluates the school’s extracurricular program. Responsible for all scheduling, eligibility and transportation requests
    31. Participates in principals’ meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate
    32. Serves as an e-officio member of all committees and councils within the school. Will serve as an administrative resource representation on the Accountability Committee
    33. Responds to written and oral requests for information
    34. Establishes and maintains relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems
    35. Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by the Superintendent
    36. Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal
    37. Other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    166 day contract August 1st-June 7th

                                             Salary and work year to be established by the Board

     

    EVALUATION:    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions for the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
